Team Kits (i.e., The Uniform)
Our team kits are high-quality, professional-grade cycling apparel designed to last and look great on the trail. The maximum kit fee is $170, but you can often pay less based on what you select.
Minimum required purchase (from our vendor, Volt):
-
Team jersey
-
Team socks
Black cycling shorts are a required part of the official uniform, but you don't have to buy them from Volt. Riders can:
-
Reuse last year's bib shorts (if they still fit), or
-
Use their own plain black cycling shorts (no logos/patterns - preferred for uniformity).
Optional items (e.g., arm/leg warmers, base layers, etc.) are available in the team store if you'd like to add them.
Full Breakdown of Season Fees
All fees are a single, one-time payment for the entire 2026 season. No surprise charges! (The only extra costs are personal travel expenses like gas, lodging, and meals for race weekends.)
-
League Fee (biggest portion): Covers race entry fees, venue rentals (like Snowbasin), secondary insurance for riders and coaches, NICA coach training and CPR/First Aid certifications for all adult ride leaders. This ensures safe, high-quality events for everyone.
-
Team Fee: Includes a team t-shirt, hoodie, swag, end-of-season party, race-day supplies, race-day food (meals for riders/families), trailer towing costs, and other team equipment.
-
Kit Fee: High-quality cycling clothing (jersey, socks, etc.).
Is It Expensive?
Starting out can feel like a big investment if you're new to mountain biking, but when you compare it to other high school sports, it's right in the middle (Football: ~$1,125, Baseball: ~$920, Basketball: ~$770, Cheer: ~$1,465, Drill: ~$955)
We also actively pursue team sponsorships from local businesses to help offset team fees for everyone—your support or connections are welcome!
Refund Policy
We have two separate policies to know about:
-
League Refund Policy: For details on league fees (including any deadlines or partial refunds), visit the official page: utahmtb.org/weather-and-refund-policies
-
Team Refund Policy: Team-specific fees (excluding league/kit portions) are partially refundable after May 1, 2026, in cases of season-ending injury or verified medical issue. Refund = team fee minus $50 administrative charge.
